TAX RETURN PREPARATION -- FREE
A representative from The Benefit Bank of South Carolina will prepare state and federal tax returns at the Dr. John M. Thomason Public Library on the following Fridays from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.:
 
January 27
February 17
February 24
 
The free service is available to those with income of $60,000 or less.  
The tax preparer will check for eligibility for numerous tax credits during the session. Qualification for benefits such as LIHEAP (Energy  Assistance) and Federal Student Aid can also be explored.
APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED. Please stop by the library or call 843-396-4287.
Internet for Beginners
The Dr. John M. Thomason Public Library will offer The Internet for Beginners on:
 
Tuesday, February 7, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
 
Tuesday, February 14, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. 
 
This FREE class will cover basic skills for and information relating to the Internet, including how to get online, navigate to sites, search the Web, and set up and use email. Students should have mouse and keyboard skills. Each session is the complete, stand-alone class. Registration is required. Please call 843-396-4287 or stop by the library.
Lynches Lake Historical Society
Lynches Lake Historical Society      http://www.lyncheslake.org/      is new to the area and has formed in Lake City to enable research and preservation of our area's historical presence, including the time that Francis Marion was moving troops through and drawing troop strength from the area.  They will be located at 106 South Acline St. in Lake City for research.  They are looking for records and information and are in a place to help with preservation of artifacts in our history.  Visit their site and consider getting involved.
